XML is as much a hot topic these days as much as it was several years ago. Unfortunately it can also be a very difficult language to learn. I know enough of it to recognize it and edit it, but not work with it programmatically.
Various resources in no particular order (I'll eventually organize them)
I grabbed these books years ago when I heard that the latest HTML standard was xHTML and that soon XML would be the standard. Well, it hasn't happened yet and xHTML is still quite commonplace. Native XML being fed directly to the browser isn't commonplace, yet.
The most useful one of the bunch has to be #1. Though with this book being eight years old, unless you can find it cheap, I would recommend searching for a more recent book
