The fix was to open nwnplayer.ini and change

Client CPU Affinity=0

to

Client CPU Affinity=-2

Mentioned in the HotUreadme file

Open nwn.ini and change

"SafeMovie=0". 

to

"SafeMovie=1"

• Make sure you have patch 1.69 installed (the last one)
• Try disabling Desktop Composition (properties on nwmain.exe, compatibility tab)
• Try the fixed binkw32.dll by Nurvall, mentioned in the “no movies even with v1.69” thread mentioned below.

No fix, disable it.
